Green Commute 2010

Employer Events

PATH is working with employers and schools around the region on Green Commute Week events.  The events include incentives like prizes and preferred parking for people who try green commuting, division challenges within workplaces and breakfast events.  The following is a list of all known events and activities happening in the Central New Hampshire region.

NH Department of Environmental Services

DES set a goal for the six-week Commute Green 2010 promotion to reduce employee commutes by 15,000 miles and will be holding competitions amongst its departments to achieve this goal.  Commissioner Thomas Burack also invited all state departments and agencies to join DES in making a similar commitment to reducing employee single driver commuting miles.  DES is also offering a bicycle safety course on May 7 open to the public. Employees will also be leading several commuter group rides to the downtown events.  DES is also partnering with Health and Human Services to run a check-in station and commuter breakfast at 29 Hazen Drive on May 21.

NH Department of Justice

DOJ employees have set a goal of reducing their emissions during Commute Green 2010 through floor by floor competitions and encouraging employees to participate in the downtown Concord events.   At the end of the challenge, all participants will be invited to an ice cream social with the Attorney General and will get a “jean day.”  The floor that reduced its carbon footprint the most through the use of "green" transportation will also be crowned the winner and will receive an award.  Individuals who commuted the most days and the most miles will be rewarded.  DOJ will also be working on improving the emissions reduction tracking systems used by planners and establishing best practices for the events in 2011.

Northeast Delta Dental and NHTI

Northeast Delta Dental employees will lead commuter group bike rides to the downtown Concord events from the ride locations and from the Horseshoe Pond area.  Northeast Delta Dental and NHTI will be encouraging employees to green commute during the six-week Commute Green promotion, are currently developing competitions between workplaces.  They are also hosting a breakfast get-together and raffles on May 19 from 7-9 a.m. at 2 Delta Drive near Horseshoe Pond.

NH Local Government Center

NHLGC has signed up to take the PATH Employer Challenge.  For the six-week Commute Green promotion, NHLGC will work with PATH and NH Rideshare to develop incentives for employees to carpool, bicycle, walk and use public transportation to work.  Some incentives include door and other raffle prizes, preferred parking for green commuters and rewarding the employee who has the greatest reduction of single drive trips.

Concord Hospital

Concord Hospital is supporting the downtown Concord events in several ways, including healthy food snack bags and prizes like reflective bicycle vests, helmets, locks, lights and other bicycle commuting essentials.  Concord Hospital is also offering a bicycle safety course on May 17, 12-1 p.m. in Conference Room A that is open to the public.  Doctors and other employees will also be leading several commuter group rides to the downtown events and to the hospital.
